WELSH FEDERATION OF COARSE ANGLERS VETERANS MATCH AT REDHILL ON THE 22ND OF OCTOBER 2011

The match had a respectable turn out when twenty two anglers from: Sirhowy 9, Merthyr 5, Glamorgan  3, Cwmbran 1, Cefn Fforest 1, Nobbers 1,  Nomads 2.  It is refreshing to see the Nomads coming forward to fish after the traumatic loss of funds they have suffered.  Let us hope they are able to rebuild themselves again.

Anticipation, of a good days fishing was the order of the day as it was fine and it was showing signs that the day would warm up. Sadly although there were some good weights there was also disappointment as the fish all seemed to be concentrated along a few winning pegs.  Even so none of these produced the weights that Redhill has a reputation for.

The winner on the Day was Tony Summers Sirhowy with an excellent weight of 91lb 8oz, 2nd Peter Meese Glamorgan AC with 71lb 7oz, 3rd Jon Taylor Glamorgan AC 67lb 10oz.  The two section winners were Brian Protheroe who just missed out on third place with 61lb 4oz and Howard Green 34lb 15oz.  Other notable weights were Allan Davies 46lb 4oz, Bernard Farr 37lb, Rob Dyer 34lb 7oz.

The winner caught his fish on maggot at 14metres with light feeding, most of the other winners were using maggot except Jon Taylor who fished worm feeding with maggot.  The Federation has been requested to hold a similar match next year for southern members.

We would like to thank the owner of Redhill Colin, and the catering staff for their courteous attention on the day.
